A Portrait of the Poet Naira Kochar

Naira Kochar was born in 1981 in Vanadzor, in the green region of Lori, Armenia. Carrying the mountains and valleys Some voices in literature begin as a whisper – yet their echo endures. Naira Kochar is such a voice: luminous, sincere, and deeply rooted in the human spirit. Her poetry, written in Armenian and German, unfolds in the space between heaven and earth, between memory and transcendence, between homeland and the search for meaning. She writes of love for her native land, of faith, of human fragility, and of the remarkable power to transform suffering into creation.

Born in Armenia and now living in Germany, Naira Kochar’s poetic work forms a bridge between two worlds. Her collection “Ցավից այն կողմ” – “Beyond Pain” was published in Yerevan in 2021, followed by its German edition in 2022, created in close collaboration with German artist Daniel Sigloch, who also contributed his artistic editorial guidance. The book became a remarkable literary encounter – a dialogue between two languages, two cultures, and two souls.

Her latest collection, “Լույսի թևով” – “On the Wings of Light”, continues this poetic journey with profound sensitivity. Divided into four thematic cycles – love for the homeland, love for God, philosophical reflections, and lyrical expressions of love – the book invites readers into spaces of contemplation, spirituality, and inner transformation. Kochar’s verses are luminous bridges across time, sustained by an unwavering belief in the power of the written word and the healing presence of language.

A member of the World Union of Armenian Writers, Naira Kochar is recognized as one of the distinctive voices of contemporary Armenian poetry within the European literary landscape. Her work reminds us that true poetry is not born from distance, but from the depths of lived experience – and that every word written with love carries within it a spark of light.
